Energy sector updates: Montenegro price stability and Croatian solar subsidies

In Montenegro, Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) reports that its pricing and discount policies have helped maintain stability despite record energy consumption and market challenges. The company noted that the number of household customers grew by nearly 18 percent between 2019 and July 2026, while the rate of regular payers increased from 53.5 percent to 62.1 percent. EPCG has allocated approximately four million euros for customer discounts through July of this year.

In Croatia, a new wave of subsidies has been announced for the installation of solar power plants. The Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund has secured 38 million euros in non-refundable funds to support these initiatives. Citizens can receive up to 50 percent support, while households in energy poverty may receive up to 70 percent. The new incentives also include support for battery systems, allowing households to store excess energy for later use rather than solely feeding it back into the grid.
