PLN secures national electricity and offers power upgrade discounts for Indonesia's 81st Independence Day

In observance of Indonesia's 81st Independence Day, PT PLN (Persero) has implemented several initiatives to ensure national energy stability and provide consumer benefits. PLN CEO Darmawan Prasodjo confirmed that the company is on full alert, having inspected power plants, substations, and transmission networks to ensure reliable electricity for independence ceremonies across the country. Nationally, PLN projects a peak load of 42.6 GW for August 17, 2026, supported by a total capacity of 51.6 GW.

To provide direct benefits to citizens, the 'Merdeka Daya' program offers a 50% discount on electricity power upgrades for low-voltage residential customers. Running from August 17 to August 25, 2026, the program allows customers with initial capacities between 450 VA and 5,500 VA to increase their power up to 7,700 VA at a reduced cost.

Tohom Purba, Chairman of the National Electricity Consumer Protection Agency (ALPERKLINAS), noted that these discounts help households and small businesses adjust their electrical capacity to meet increasing demands for electronic appliances and productive activities, making the spirit of independence tangible through improved daily utility access.
