Energy storage battery sector sees rapid growth and strategic shifts

Major players in the energy storage battery industry are reporting significant financial growth and infrastructure shifts. EVE Energy's H1 2026 financial report shows a 62.20% year-on-year increase in operating revenue to approximately 45.691 billion RMB, with net profit attributable to the parent company rising by 105.66% to 3.301 billion RMB.

EVE Energy's energy storage segment saw revenue grow by 69.15% to over 15.09 billion RMB. The company has also achieved milestones in large-scale capacity, including the mass production of 600Ah+ large prismatic LFP energy storage batteries.

In North America, Samsung SDI is transitioning its manufacturing strategy. The company plans to acquire General Motors' 49.99% stake in their Synergy Cells joint venture, converting the New Carlisle, Indiana, facility into Samsung SDI's first wholly-owned battery base in the region. This $3.5 billion project will prioritize energy storage battery production with an initial capacity of 27GWh.

Additionally, Namey Tech is preparing to commission a 1.5GWh sodium-ion battery production line, and Yongshan Lithium is advancing a 22,000-ton lithium carbonate project, signaling continued expansion across the battery supply chain.
