Energy Summit in Rio Focuses on Leadership, Talent and Urban Mobility

The Energy Summit 2026 took place in Rio de Janeiro from June 23 to 25, organized in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. A key feature was the Career Track, a programme aimed at developing leadership and talent for the energy sector, covering topics such as artificial intelligence, new professions and skills for a complex, purpose‑driven environment. Companies and institutions participating included Petrobras, Shell Brasil, Neoenergia, Raízen, Equinor, BTG Pactual, Microsoft Brasil, Deloitte, Korn Ferry, IBMEC and LinkedIn.

At a dedicated mobility panel, Marcus Quintella of FGV Transporte and Larissa Amorim of Garin Partners warned that electrifying vehicles alone will not solve urban transport challenges. They called for integrated planning, multimodal networks, robust regulatory frameworks and attention to issues such as traffic congestion, battery waste and regional disparities. The discussion also referenced recent Brazilian policies such as the Future Fuel Law and the regulated carbon market, which aim to provide legal certainty for financing the energy transition.
