Energy tech firms Gridsight and Light secure $82 million in combined funding

Two energy technology companies have secured significant funding to expand their infrastructure and management capabilities.

Gridsight, an AI-powered capacity management platform, raised $36 million in Series B funding led by Insight Partners. The company intends to use the capital to accelerate its expansion in the United States, where rising electricity demand from AI data centers and electric vehicles is straining existing grids. Gridsight works with utilities like Xcel Energy to quantify and optimize unused grid capacity.

Light, a provider of embedded electricity infrastructure, raised $46 million in Series A funding led by Matrix. Light enables businesses to integrate branded electricity offerings into their products by managing licensing, wholesale procurement, and billing. The company currently reaches over 30% of U.S. residential solar sales and plans to expand its network beyond Texas into states including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Illinois.
