The energy transition is shifting the role of installers from simple technicians to ‘energy directors’ who manage integrated systems of water, heat, solar, and electricity. This evolution requires expertise in digital knowledge, regulation technology, and consumption profiles to create value through system cohesion rather than just individual device sales.

However, the sector faces challenges. The heat pump market saw a 30 percent contraction in 2024, attributed to inconsistent government policies. Similarly, Holland Solar expects new solar capacity for 2025 to be at its lowest level since 2020 due to the end of net metering, negative electricity prices, and grid congestion.

In response to these shifts, companies like Currentt are developing smart energy management systems to control household electricity usage, while DeWarmte is expanding its presence in the heat pump market with high-efficiency models designed to handle dynamic energy prices and grid challenges.
