Energy Workers Alliance launches new independent union in Romania
The Energy Workers Alliance (A.L.E.) has officially launched as a new independent labor union in Romania. Headquartered in Brașov, the organization aims to represent employees across the electric energy, natural gas, oil, and energy mining sectors, as well as related services.
Operating under the Social Dialogue Law no. 367/2022, the union maintains independence from employers, employer organizations, political parties, and public authorities. Its scope of representation is broad, covering production, transport, distribution, and supply, as well as specialized roles in engineering, maintenance, IT, cybersecurity, logistics, and infrastructure protection.
The union’s stated objectives include protecting members during restructurings, dismissals, and labor conflicts, while combating unfair treatment. A.L.E. also intends to engage in professional social dialogue and prepare workers for transitions driven by decarbonization, digitalization, and automation through training and skill development.
