Enerparc AG files for insolvency in Hamburg

Enerparc AG, a major Hamburg-based solar park developer and operator, has filed for insolvency with the Hamburg District Court. The company is one of Europe’s largest independent owners of solar parks, managing over 500 sites with approximately 5.5 gigawatts of installed capacity.

Despite securing up to one billion euros in financing earlier this spring—intended for expanding solar and battery storage projects in Germany, France, and Spain—the company has declared insolvency. Stefan Denkhaus has been appointed as the preliminary insolvency administrator. He stated that initial discussions are underway with the board, advisors, and financiers to stabilize the business.

The company’s core operations include the development, construction, and operation of solar plants, as well as electricity marketing and the expansion of battery storage and substation infrastructure. While the insolvency filing currently affects Enerparc AG, it is not yet certain if sister companies or project-specific subsidiaries will also file for insolvency. Operations are expected to continue for the time being, and the administrator is working to inform the approximately 380 employees involved.
