Former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom was ejected from a WNBA game between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever on Sunday following a verbal confrontation with Sky guard Natasha Cloud. Kanter Freedom, who recently announced his intention to declare for the 2027 WNBA Draft to challenge the league’s transgender eligibility rules, was sitting courtside wearing a T-shirt that defined a woman as an ‘adult human female.’

The incident occurred during the third quarter after Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham made a three-pointer. Kanter Freedom stated he was celebrating the shot when Cloud approached him, shouting and pointing. Kanter Freedom alleged that Cloud made personal remarks, while Cloud later expressed support for the transgender community on social media.

Security and teammates intervened as the exchange escalated, leading to Kanter Freedom’s removal from the Wintrust Arena. Chicago Sky head coach Tyler Marsh defended Cloud, stating the team embraces her as someone who protects people. The confrontation highlights ongoing tensions regarding the WNBA’s eligibility guidelines and the broader cultural debate surrounding transgender athletes in women’s sports.
