Eneva selects Espírito Santo for new gas hub and LNG terminal

Eneva has signed contracts with Vports, the port authority for Espírito Santo, to secure land use at the Port of Barra do Riacho in Aracruz. The agreement, which lasts until December 2046, facilitates the development of a new gas hub consisting of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal and thermal power plants.

Formerly referred to as the Southeast Hub, the project is now named the Espírito Santo Hub. It will feature an installed capacity of 690 MW, with commercial operations scheduled to begin in August 2031. The facility will be supplied by LNG arriving by ship to the terminal. Eneva will maintain 100% ownership of the project.

As part of its strategic reallocation, Eneva is also expanding its Ceará Hub to a capacity of 1.659 GW, transferring 460 MW from the original Southeast Hub plan to the Ceará site. The Ceará plants will be located in Caucaia and supplied by an existing LNG terminal at the Port of Pecém.
