Enexis speeds up electricity grid expansion in the Brainport region of the Netherlands

Netbeheerder Enexis will install a new net station at the corner of Oirschotseweg and Bokvelden in Best on 24 June, with traffic diversions and temporary parking restrictions. The contractor Hurkmans B.V. will lay new cables and reconnect existing ones, completing the work by late July to strengthen the local power supply and prevent overload.

In parallel, Enexis and 21 municipalities in the Metropoolregio Eindhoven signed a Nadere Overeenkomst to halve the implementation time for larger grid‑expansion projects. The agreement targets the rapid rollout of low‑ and medium‑voltage networks needed for housing, businesses and the fast‑growing high‑tech sector, including ASML. It foresees more than 4 000 km of additional cables, around 2 900 new net stations and roughly 2 600 transformer upgrades, potentially affecting one‑third of streets in the region. The plan aims to streamline location selection, permit processes and coordination with residents, reducing repetitive procedures and supporting continued economic growth.
