Enfield Council approves long-term economic growth plan for 2040
Enfield Council has approved a long-term economic strategy titled ‘Enfield Delivers’, aiming to transform the borough into London’s leading industrial and entrepreneurial hub by 2040. The plan focuses on three primary priorities: building a productive and resilient economy, creating thriving places, and developing a skilled, work-ready population.
The borough intends to leverage its significant industrial assets, including the fourth-largest amount of industrial land among London boroughs, to attract investment and support its approximately 14,000 existing businesses. The strategy seeks to address local economic challenges, such as rising unemployment rates, which increased from 4.4% in early 2025 to 7% by 2026.
To achieve its goals, the Council plans to collaborate with educational providers, community organizations, and local businesses to enhance skills training and connect residents with new employment opportunities. The plan identifies four key growth sectors where the borough holds a competitive advantage.
