Enfield water outage affects hundreds following burst main

A major burst water main in Enfield, North London, has left approximately 750 to 1,000 households without water since Sunday. The disruption affects several postcode areas, including EN1, EN2, N14, and N21.

Thames Water reported that the issue became more challenging to resolve after a leak was first identified on Bramley Road. The company stated that a section of the damaged main must be removed and replaced, warning that normal service may not be restored until Friday. Thames Water attributed the burst to exceptionally dry ground conditions caused by drought, which can cause pipes to shift as the ground shrinks.

Residents have expressed frustration over the lack of supply and the difficulty of accessing emergency resources. While bottled water stations were established at Forty Hall Estate, Tesco in Ponders End, and Highlands School, some residents reported confusion regarding locations and shortages of available water. Some families have had to purchase their own bottled water for essential needs such as sanitation.
