Enforcement Directorate conducts searches at Park Hospitals and GPIL
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Income Tax Department conducted simultaneous search operations at multiple units of the Park Group of Hospitals in Punjab. The searches, which took place in Patiala, Bathinda, and Mohali, involved the examination of administrative offices, digital records, and financial documents. Investigators are reportedly scrutinizing potential financial irregularities, tax evasion, and discrepancies in billing, including records related to insurance claims and government-supported healthcare schemes like Ayushman Bharat.
In a separate action, the ED carried out searches at nine premises linked to Gupta Power Infrastructure Limited (GPIL) and its associated entities in Odisha and West Bengal. This investigation stems from a bank fraud case involving a consortium of banks with an exposure of approximately Rs 3,590 crore. Officials allege that GPIL manipulated its borrowing capacity by inflating reported stock levels between 2018 and 2023. As part of the operation, the ED froze 139 bank accounts, mutual funds, and shares, and seized several luxury vehicles and incriminating documents.
