Enforcement Directorate conducts searches in Punjab and Chandigarh

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted search operations across 14 locations in Punjab and Chandigarh as part of a money laundering investigation involving former Punjab Industries and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora. The searches, carried out by the Jalandhar Zonal Office, targeted the residential premises of Arora in Hoshiarpur, Shivam Hospital, and several business entities including SRG Builders and Promoters Private Limited and Gulmohar Township India Private Limited.

The investigation follows an FIR regarding the accumulation of assets disproportionate to known income and allegations that Arora offered a bribe to a senior Vigilance Bureau officer. The ED reported the seizure of mobile phones, digital devices, property documents, and records related to Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC) plots, as well as the freezing of bank lockers.

In a separate matter, the ED searched seven premises connected to Amandeep Kaur Arora, an MLA from Punjab’s Moga constituency, regarding alleged fraud in land compensation for a National Highway. The investigation involves the suspected manipulation of revenue records and the wrongful disbursement of over Rs 1 crore in compensation funds.
