Enforcement Directorate reclaims seized flat in Thane following unauthorized entry

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has regained possession of a flat in Thane, Maharashtra, after reports of unauthorized entry and tampering with locks. The agency filed a complaint at the Kasarvadavali police station regarding the incident, which involved an attempt to claim ownership of the property and the removal of official notices.

The property, registered in the name of Mumtaz Ejaz Sheikh, was originally attached under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in April 2022 as part of an investigation into alleged extortion and money laundering involving Iqbal Kaskar and other co-accused. The attachment was confirmed by the adjudicating authority in September 2022, and the ED took physical possession in December 2024.

Following instructions from a special PMLA court, ED officials changed the locks on the premises in the presence of police officers and witnesses to restore control. A new notice has been posted at the site, advising any individuals with claims or grievances regarding the property to contact the ED office or the relevant court.
