Satish Jarkiholi: ED conducts raids at 18 locations over alleged illegal foreign investments

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted extensive searches at approximately 18 locations across Bengaluru, Belagavi, Gokak, and Goa. The raids target Karnataka Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Satish Jarkiholi, his family members, including MP Priyanka Jarkiholi, and several close associates.

The investigation is reportedly focused on alleged violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), specifically concerning suspected illegal overseas investments and financial transactions. Authorities are scrutinizing documents and digital evidence related to potential money laundering and irregular foreign currency dealings.

Karnataka Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar and other Congress leaders have condemned the raids, labeling them as “politically motivated” attempts by the BJP-led central government to target influential Dalit leaders and destabilize the state administration. Conversely, BJP leaders have dismissed these claims, stating the timing is coincidental and that the investigation should be viewed as a standard legal proceeding.
