Engel Workwear launches textile recycling system in Germany
The Danish apparel company Engel Workwear has launched its RE:TURN recycling concept in the German-speaking market. Following a successful implementation in Denmark, where the company collected nearly 12,000 kilograms of clothing between 2023 and 2025, the system allows businesses to collect used or worn-out professional clothing without incurring disposal costs.
Under this circular system, companies register the amount of old clothing via an online portal. The items are then collected on-site in containers or boxes, or through retailers. Once weighed and registered, the textiles are processed by recycling partners, and Engel Workwear utilizes the materials to manufacture new clothing. The program excludes footwear and clothing containing electronic components.
