ENGIE and Cenagas invest 1.75 billion pesos in Yucatán gas infrastructure

ENGIE and the National Center for Natural Gas Control (Cenagas) have announced an investment of approximately 1.75 billion pesos to expand natural gas supply to the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico.

According to the Ministry of Energy (Sener), the project aims to address a gas deficit in the southern-southeast region caused by industrial and commercial growth. The investment includes 750 million pesos from Cenagas and 1 billion pesos from ENGIE for interconnection and additional compression works.

The plan involves redirecting natural gas from Texas through the Cempoala compression station toward Tuxpan, Veracruz, utilizing an undersea pipeline. Officials expect a substantial and stable increase in the gas supply to the peninsula by the first quarter of next year, benefiting both the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and the private sector.
