ENGIE Chile launches two new battery storage projects

ENGIE Chile has announced the commercial operation of two new Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), named BESS Libélula and BESS Los Loros. Located in the Metropolitan and Atacama regions, these projects represent a combined investment of US$283 million.

The new facilities add 251 MW of storage capacity to the National Electric System. This expansion brings ENGIE Chile’s total operational BESS capacity to 663 MW, aimed at enhancing the management of renewable energy and increasing the flexibility of the national grid.
