Engie to provide €75 bonus to 720,000 energy voucher recipients
Engie has announced it will provide a €75 bonus to 720,000 of its customers who are beneficiaries of the French energy voucher (chèque énergie) in 2026. This initiative, totaling approximately €54 million, aims to combat energy poverty amid rising energy market volatility and pressure on household purchasing power.
The aid is automatic and will be applied to the next bill for eligible customers who hold an electricity or gas contract as of October 1, 2026, and have already used their energy voucher to pay their 2026 bills. No administrative steps are required for these recipients.
The French energy voucher is a national program designed to assist low-income households with energy and fuel costs. For the 2026 campaign, eligibility is based on 2024 tax reference income. While the voucher typically ranges from €48 to €277 depending on household composition and income, recent regulations have restricted its use, preventing it from being used for energy renovation works except for specific cases issued before the 2025 finance law.
