Engin Yeşil says new legal framework for peace process will boost Diyarbakır’s economy
Engin Yeşil, chairman of the Diyarbakır Trade Board (DTB) and member of the Turkish Union of Chambers of Commerce (TOBB) board, said the draft framework law that will create the legal basis for the new solution process is being submitted to the Turkish Parliament. He emphasized that the process concerns the future of 86 million people, not just a single group, and that strengthening social peace will improve the investment climate, increase production and create jobs across the country.
Yeşil highlighted that Diyarbakır, with its strong potential in agriculture, livestock, food industry, organized industry, logistics and cross‑border trade, has been the most affected region by years of insecurity and economic uncertainty. He noted a growing sense of optimism among the business community, with renewed activity in trade and investment, and argued that greater legal predictability and stronger democratic institutions will directly boost investment decisions, exports and employment.
The chairman concluded that a durable peace environment will translate into tangible economic benefits for Diyarbakır and Turkey as a whole.
