Engineering and sustainability initiatives presented in Peru

At the Peru Sustainable Summit 2026, Cementos Pacasmayo outlined a strategy for sustainable housing construction focused on long-term social development. Claudia Bustamante, the company’s Sustainability and Investor Relations Manager, emphasized four pillars: integrating sustainability during the planning phase, shifting focus from customers to the actual inhabitants' needs, training construction workers to improve safety and quality, and measuring success through durability and community benefit rather than just budget or timelines.

Separately, the Lima Departmental Council of the College of Engineers of Peru (CIP Lima) delivered the ‘Engineering Roadmap for Governance 2026-2036’ to the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM). Developed by approximately 200 specialists, the technical document contains nine strategic axes aimed at boosting investment and closing structural gaps. A key component is the energy security and transition axis, which proposes reducing dependence on imported fuels and diversifying the energy matrix through renewable sources such as hydroelectric, wind, and solar power.
