Engineering drives new investment cycle in Brazilian mining
A new cycle of investment in the Brazilian mining sector is increasing the strategic importance of multidisciplinary engineering. Engineering is now required from the earliest stages of projects, including feasibility studies, safety, licensing, and operation, rather than just during final detailing.
Companies like BRIDGE, based in Belo Horizonte, are expanding their roles by integrating disciplines such as geotechnics, water management, infrastructure, and logistics. Pablo Cesário, president of IBRAM, noted that multidisciplinary consulting is essential for reducing risks and improving investment decisions.
The growth in the sector is driven by global demand for minerals critical to the energy transition, digitalization, and supply chain security. In 2025, the sector generated R$ 298.8 billion in revenue, a 10.3% increase over 2024, supporting more than 229,000 direct jobs.
