Engineering software advances with AI and multiphysics updates

The engineering software landscape is seeing significant advancements in simulation and AI integration. Comsol, celebrating 40 years since its founding in Stockholm, has evolved from a niche mathematical modeling tool into a global multiphysics simulation platform that incorporates GPU acceleration and AI support.

In the realm of CAD and design, Onshape has introduced an AI agent via SimScale to assist users with simulations. Additionally, Backflip AI has expanded its mesh-to-CAD capabilities to include 2D drawings and photos, which are now integrated with Autodesk Fusion through an existing plugin.

Autodesk has also clarified its progress regarding neural CAD. While some research projects like Project Quill remain in the exploration phase, several neural CAD features, such as AutoConstrain and Building Layout Explorer, are already live within Autodesk products.
