Engkilili Water Treatment Plant to boost Sri Aman water supply

Construction is underway on the RM312.97 million Engkilili Water Treatment Plant in Sarawak, aimed at strengthening the water supply infrastructure for the Sri Aman Division. The project, which began in May 2025, is fully funded by the Sarawak Government through the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication.

Once completed, the facility is expected to have a capacity of 75 million litres per day (MLD). The plant is scheduled for completion by May 2028 and is intended to address persistent water supply challenges, support increasing demand from population and economic growth, and bolster the existing Bayai Water Treatment Plant.

The Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB Sarawak) is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the project.
