England coach Thomas Tuchel uses bike rides and ice cream to manage World Cup stress
England head coach Thomas Tuchel, appointed in 2024, said he copes with the pressure of the 2026 World Cup semifinal by taking a short bike ride, finding a large parking lot and eating an ice cream for a few minutes. He explained that the brief moment reconnects him with his inner child and restores calm before facing Argentina in Atlanta.
Tuchel noted the tournament has been physically draining because of travel to Mexico, high‑altitude matches and comeback wins over Congo and Norway, but also energising. He feels tension and nervousness but does not view it as a heavy burden, emphasizing his desire to end England’s 60‑year trophy drought since the 1966 World Cup victory.
