England cricket squad announced for Pakistan Test series

England has named a 16‑player squad for the three‑match Test series against Pakistan, which begins on 19 August as part of the World Test Championship. Jo Root will captain the side, with returning middle‑order batsman Dan Lawrence and all‑rounder Jordan Cox stepping in for the injured Jacob Bethell, who missed the India series with a knee injury.

Selector Marcus North said all‑rounder Sam Curran, who missed the first two Tests due to fitness concerns, could be added for the third Test. He explained, "He hasn't felt physically fit yet, so it would be wrong to include him in the first two matches. If he becomes fit, we will consider him for the third." The squad also includes Ben D'Keet, Matthew Fisher, Emilio Gale, Ollie Pop, Ollie Robinson, Jamie Smith and Josh Tong.
