England secures Test series lead over Pakistan at Lord’s
England has secured a 2-0 lead in their three-match Test series against Pakistan following a 194-run victory at Lord’s. The win, driven by a dominant bowling performance from Ollie Robinson, Jofra Archer, Josh Tongue, and Gus Atkinson, marks England’s first multi-match series victory since December 2024.
In response to the heavy defeats, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has implemented a massive squad overhaul ahead of the third Test in Birmingham. Seven players, including senior batter Mohammad Rizwan and opener Imam-ul-Haq, have been released from the squad. To bolster the team, seven replacements have been called up, including five uncapped players such as Arafat Minhas and Saad Baig.
The restructuring extends to the coaching staff; head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul have been replaced by Mike Hesson and Ashley Noffke. Additionally, Misbah-ul-Haq has offered his resignation from the selection committee following these sweeping changes. The series concludes with the final Test starting September 9 at Edgbaston.
