England defender Tino Livramento clears surgery, targets pre‑season return

England defender Tino Livramento underwent a minor calf surgery after sustaining the injury during a training session in Florida. The 23‑year‑old missed the end of the World Cup due to the same problem and returned to his club, Newcastle United, for treatment.

Newcastle United confirmed the operation was successful and said Livramento is expected to be back in action during the pre‑season. His absence has left England with six centre‑backs and three full‑backs, and Chelsea’s Trevo Chalobah was called up as a replacement.

England’s coach Thomas Tuchel may adjust the squad ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 round‑of‑32 match against the Democratic Republic of Congo, with Livramento’s recovery seen as a boost to defensive options.
