England education results show significant international improvement

East Hampshire MP Damian Hinds highlighted that England’s educational results have improved dramatically over the last 15 years relative to other nations. According to the OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), English pupils are now ranked among the world’s top ten for reading, mathematics, and science.

Hinds attributed this progress to specific reforms, including a knowledge-rich curriculum, the use of synthetic phonics, maths mastery methods, and increased school autonomy. He noted that while education is devolved, England’s approach has differed from the ‘progressive’ 21st Century Skills curricula adopted in Scotland and Wales.
