Nico O'Reilly withdraws from England squad due to injury

England defender Nico O'Reilly has withdrawn from the national squad due to injury and has returned to Manchester City for medical assessment. The 21-year-old versatile player will miss the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures against Croatia in Rijeka and the home match against the Czech Republic at Wembley.

England manager Thomas Tuchel has decided not to call up a replacement for O'Reilly. Following his absence, Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha has been confirmed as a call-up to the squad for the Nations League matches. Lewis Hall of Newcastle United is expected to be a primary candidate to fill the vacancy in the defensive lineup.

O'Reilly's withdrawal follows his recent appearance in England's Nations League match against Spain. While the specific nature of the injury has not been officially disclosed, Tuchel previously described the player's training absences as being due to ‘minor issues’.
