England wheelchair rugby league team prepares for World Cup defense

The England men’s wheelchair rugby league team is prepared to defend their World Cup title, beginning their campaign against Wales. As the number-one ranked side, England aims to retain the crown they won four years ago.

To prepare for the tournament in Wollongong, Australia, the team has maintained a structured training program throughout the year, including high-intensity practice matches at St George’s Park. Coach Tom Coyd noted that the team has completed seven two-day camps this year to ensure readiness.

England’s group stage matches include fixtures against Wales, the USA, and Ireland. While France and Australia are considered primary challengers for the trophy, England seeks to build on their recent success, including a 2-0 Ashes series victory in Australia last autumn.
