England defender Reece James remains doubtful for the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter‑final against Norway in Miami. The right‑back has not trained with the squad since suffering a hamstring injury in the goalless group‑stage draw with Ghana and missing the round‑of‑16 victory over Mexico. He is following an individual rehabilitation programme away from the main training group in Kansas City.

England manager Thomas Tuchel also faces a shortage at right‑back after Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah was suspended for the Norway match. Other squad members absent from the recent training session included centre‑back Marc Guehi, who was dealing with muscle fatigue, and midfielder Declan Rice, who said he can play despite discomfort. Midfielder Jordan Henderson, who broke his wrist while celebrating the Mexico win, has returned to the camp after successful surgery.
