Eni Award 2026 recognizes three environmental research innovations
The 18th edition of the Eni Award was held at the Quirinale Palace on October 29, 2026. The ceremony, attended by Italian President Sergio Mattarella, Eni Board Chair Giuseppina Di Foggia, and CEO Claudio Descalzi, honored three major scientific breakthroughs aimed at addressing environmental and energy challenges.
The awarded research focuses on three key areas: fluorine chemistry that avoids the use of PFAS, the development of molecular sponges capable of capturing carbon dioxide from the air, and the catalytic recycling of polyethylene and polypropylene plastics.
In addition to the primary research awards, the ceremony included the Eni Joule for Entrepreneurship special mention, which recognizes innovative and sustainable business ideas. The event highlights the intersection of scientific research, industrial application, and national interest in energy transition and environmental protection.
