Eni oil center in Viggiano faces safety criticism after blackout

The CGIL trade union in Potenza has raised serious concerns regarding safety protocols at the Eni oil center in Viggiano following a second blackout in recent days. The incident involved the release of black smoke and a high flare flame.

Emanuele De Nicola, secretary of CGIL Potenza, reported that no formal safety procedures, such as sound alarms or megaphone warnings, were activated to alert workers. Consequently, employees evacuated the facility as a precaution without official guidance from Eni security. The union is demanding transparency and clarity from Eni and relevant authorities, noting that safety representatives were not informed of the incident.
