Enid Clifton celebrates 100th birthday in Goulburn
Enid Clifton, a resident of Goulburn Masonic Village, recently celebrated her 100th birthday. Born in Adelong on September 23, 1926, Mrs. Clifton marked the milestone with a small family gathering at the Goulburn Soldiers Club and a larger celebration on September 26.
Mrs. Clifton grew up on an orchard and farm in the Batlow district. Her childhood included walking long distances to Peels Creek school and witnessing historical events, such as hearing Winston Churchill's declaration of World War II on the radio. Following a cyclone that affected her family's orchard, her parents moved to Wagga Wagga around 1945.
After marrying in 1950, Mrs. Clifton and her husband eventually moved to Goulburn in 1964. Her family describes her as an inspiration who remains active in her community, frequently reading to preschoolers at the local library and using technology to stay connected with her grandchildren.
