ENISA advances EUMSS cybersecurity certification scheme

The European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) has reached a milestone in the standardization of external security services. The consultation period for the draft EUMSS (Managed Security Services) certification scheme concluded on September 13, 2026.

The EUMSS scheme is designed to provide a harmonized framework for Managed Security Service Providers who manage, monitor, and secure IT infrastructures for clients. By bundling data governance and supranational security requirements into a single certification, the initiative aims to create a transparent benchmark for service quality.

This certification is intended to facilitate the cross-border selection of security providers by demonstrating competence and compliance with strict European standards. The implementation of the scheme is planned across 26 EU member states, helping to build trust in the digital economy as cyber threats and IT complexities increase.
