Enna: Confraternita di Valverde opens ‘Custodi delle Origini’ exhibition hall
The Confraternita Maria Santissima di Valverde is inaugurating a permanent exhibition hall named ‘Custodi delle Origini’ (Guardians of the Origins) in Enna. Located within the Canonica of the Santuario di Valverde, the space is dedicated to the memory of Padre Luigi Giunta, who was instrumental in reconstituting the brotherhood in 1935 and rebuilding the church following World War II bombings.
The exhibition aims to preserve and share the religious and social roots of the territory. For the first time, the public will be able to view various historical items that were previously kept in storage, including ancient documents such as the 1935 reconstitution minutes, banners, archival photographs, and religious utensils. Notable items on display include a gilded wooden crown and the ancient vestments of the brotherhood.
According to Rector Mario Cascio, the initiative is intended to be more than a simple museum; it is designed as a place to safeguard the collective memory and the connection between the brotherhood and the city of Enna.
