Enna municipality teams up with ESA to boost rural road safety

The Comune di Enna and the regional Ente Sviluppo Agricolo (ESA) have signed a two‑week agreement that allows the municipality to use ESA’s machinery and staff for maintenance, cleaning and fire‑prevention work on critical rural roads. The cooperation aims to keep agricultural routes accessible, reduce the risk of hydro‑geological damage and lower municipal costs. Activities include clearing drainage channels, maintaining the capillary water network and preventing forest fires, with work scheduled to continue through mid‑October. Targeted sites cover the camping area near the Pergusa pools, the historic artisan zone and Via della Resistenza. Mayor Mirello Crisafulli and assessor Leandro Lombardo highlighted the partnership’s importance for local farmers and dozens of families who rely on these roads.

The agreement reflects a broader push by Enna’s administration to improve infrastructure efficiency through joint action with regional bodies, leveraging ESA’s equipment and expertise to achieve results that would be difficult for the municipality to fund alone.
