Enna provincial mayors meet to discuss school network restructuring

Mayors in the Enna province have convened to discuss the rationalization and dimensioning of the regional school network for the 2026-2027 academic year. The meeting, initiated by Piero Capizzi, president of the Libero consorzio, focused on electing municipal representatives to the provincial conference, the technical body responsible for reviewing the dimensioning plan.

The conference will include representatives from Agira, Leonforte, Barrafranca, Regalbuto, Troina, Nicosia, Cerami, and the provincial capital, Enna. A follow-up session is scheduled for September 10, where the body will provide a decisive, though non-binding, opinion on the proposal.

During the assembly, Enna’s Councilor for Public Education, Marinella Adamo, highlighted concerning trends in the local education sector. She noted a reduction of 17 ATA staff members (administrative, technical, and auxiliary personnel) in the province this year. Adamo warned that demographic decline is further contracting the organic staffing levels of schools, particularly in inland areas, a situation she urged officials not to underestimate.
