Enna reopens applications for renewable energy communities
The Municipality of Enna has reopened applications for renewable energy communities (CER), allowing citizens, families, associations, and businesses to join by December 15. Participation is free of charge.
Feasibility studies have been approved for two distinct communities: CER 1 ‘Area Nord’ and CER 2 ‘Area Sud’. To establish these groups, the North Area requires at least 35 members (including 7 producers), while the South Area requires 32 members (including 6 producers).
These non-profit groups produce and share clean energy through the electrical grid. Members can be either simple consumers or energy producers. The Gestore dei servizi energetici (GSE) provides economic contributions for shared energy, which are distributed among participants. A social component is integrated into the project, requiring that at least 10 percent of participants be families experiencing energy poverty.
