Enna to host new university polyclinic and radiotherapy department

The Sicilian Regional Assembly has approved funding for significant healthcare expansions in Enna. A one-million-euro allocation has been authorized for 2026 to support the design and development of the fourth university polyclinic in Sicily. These funds, directed to the Enna Provincial Health Authority, will facilitate feasibility studies, medical training, and technological upgrades at the Umberto I hospital.

Additionally, a financial plan totaling eight million euros has been announced to establish an oncological radiotherapy department at the Umberto I hospital. This service is currently unavailable in the province, forcing patients to travel elsewhere for treatment. The funding includes an initial four million euros already approved through budget variations, with the remaining four million expected in the upcoming financial law. The resources are intended for the construction of the department and the purchase of two radiotherapy machines.
