Enna's Umberto I Hospital reaches 100 robotic surgeries
The Umberto I Hospital in Enna has reached a milestone of 100 surgical procedures performed using the Hugo RAS robotic system. This achievement follows the recent launch of a robotic surgery program established through a collaboration between the Azienda Sanitaria Provinciale and Kore University.
The technology is currently utilized by three specialized surgical teams: Gynecology, General Surgery, and Urology. The system allows surgeons to operate via a console with high-definition 3D vision, utilizing robotic arms that provide greater stability and a wider range of motion than the human hand.
Clinical benefits noted include less invasive procedures, increased precision, reduced risk of complications, and shorter hospital stays for patients. The program's success is attributed to specialized training for surgeons and the coordinated efforts of anesthesiologists, nurses, and technical staff.
