Enner Valencia leads Boca Juniors comeback with historic hat-trick

Ecuadorian striker Enner Valencia has transformed his early reception at Boca Juniors following a historic performance in the Copa Argentina. After facing criticism regarding his physical condition and a missed penalty against Vélez, Valencia led a dramatic comeback against Racing.

Coming on as a substitute in the 56th minute with Boca trailing 2-0, Valencia scored three goals via headers in the 72nd, 80th, and 95th minutes. This feat secured a 3-2 victory and sent Boca Juniors to the semifinals. Valencia became only the fifth player in the club's history to score three headers in a single match, a milestone not reached since 1982.

In reflections on the match, Valencia described the experience as “unforgettable, truly like a movie.” He attributed the success to the quality of crosses from teammates and his own timing. The striker also noted the intense emotional impact of the Boca Juniors supporters, admitting that the excitement of the comeback led him to celebrate by removing his jersey for the first time in his career.
