Ennio Morricone tributes scheduled for Italian summer festivals

Several musical ensembles are scheduled to perform tributes to the late Italian composer Ennio Morricone as part of summer festivals in Italy.

On August 30, the Ensemble Bella Musica of the Mozarteum University Salzburg will perform at the Chigiana International Festival at the Teatro dei Rozzi in Siena. Directed by Stefan David Hummel, the ensemble will feature works ranging from Mozart to Morricone, specifically including ‘The Island’ (1980). The group consists of young musicians from various countries, including Austria, Germany, Italy, and China.

Additionally, the Ensemble Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Giacomo Loprieno, will present ‘Alla scoperta di Morricone vol. 3’ at the Teatro Romano di Fiesole on September 8. This performance, part of the Estate Fiesolana 2026, will explore lesser-known works such as ‘Gli Intoccabili’ and ‘La Califfa,’ alongside collaborations with soloists including soprano Anna Delfino and cellist Federico Covre.
