Ennio Pintacuda: Legacy of a Sicilian educator and anti-mafia figure

Ennio Pintacuda, a Jesuit priest, sociologist, and educator, is remembered for his significant impact on the social, cultural, and political landscape of Sicily. His work focused on the belief that meaningful societal change, particularly in the fight against the mafia and clientelism, must stem from a cultural shift and the education of individual consciences rather than relying solely on laws or state repression.

Pintacuda was a central figure during the ‘Palermo Spring,’ a period of political and civil renewal in the city. He dedicated much of his life to training a new generation of leaders intended to be free from power-based conditioning and focused on the common good.
