Enosa details electricity tariff structure and components

During the VII Symposium ‘Renewable Energies Into The Peruvian Electricity Grid’ organized by the University of Piura, Enosa representative Percy Calero Pinta detailed the structure of electricity tariffs in Peru.

The electricity cost is divided into three main stages: generation accounts for approximately 50% of the cost, transmission represents about 20%, and distribution makes up the remaining 30%. Within the distribution component, the Value Added Distribution (VAD) is a regulated element overseen by Osinergmin. The VAD covers necessary investments in networks and substations, as well as operation and maintenance costs. This value is updated every four years based on factors such as user density and local system characteristics.

For Enosa, the next VAD application period is scheduled from November 1, 2027, to October 31, 2031. Additionally, the company reported that it is currently developing pilot projects using smart meters in Piura to improve consumption recording.
