Dominican Republic utility companies announce maintenance and report fraud

The Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica Dominicana (ETED) has announced scheduled preventive maintenance for the San Juan II substation on Saturday, October 3. The work, occurring between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., is intended to strengthen the reliability of the National Interconnected Electric System (SENI). This maintenance will result in temporary power interruptions in Vallejuelo, Las Matas de Farfán, Sabaneta, the municipality of San Juan de la Maguana, and parts of Elías Piña province.

In addition to infrastructure maintenance, ETED is focusing on institutional governance through its Fourth Energy and Sustainability Forum. The session addressed corporate governance, compliance, and legal updates to improve risk management and transparency within the organization.

Separately, Edesur Dominicana reported the detention of a contractor technician in Arroyo Hondo for performing an illegal direct connection to the electrical grid in exchange for payment. The company emphasized its commitment to combating utility fraud and encouraged citizens to report irregular practices.
