Enoshima Electric Railway launches Kamakura Ethical Train

Enoshima Electric Railway has launched the ‘Kamakura Ethical Train’ as part of a collaborative initiative involving Kamakura City, Kamakura Ethical Lab, and Sanbon Coffee. The project aims to promote fair trade and ethical consumption following Kamakura City’s certification as a Fair Trade Town in 2025.

The campaign features a specially designed train running between Fujisawa and Kamakura stations, decorated with motifs of coffee trees and local nature. A central component of the initiative is the ‘Kamakura Roasted Coffee Fair Trade Kamakura Blend.’ The flavor and packaging design for this coffee were determined through a public vote by Kamakura residents.

Proceeds from the sale of the coffee, which is priced at 585 yen for a 64g pack, will be donated to the Kamakura City Greenery Conservation Fund to support local environmental preservation. The project seeks to connect local community actions with global sustainability through the medium of ethical consumer choices.
